Cookie Policy
Last Updated: September 2, 2026 Effective Date: September 2, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how My Opus, Inc. ("Opus," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies in connection with the Opus website, web application, and other digital properties that link to this Cookie Policy (collectively, the "Services").
This Cookie Policy supplements our Privacy Policy.
At this time, Opus uses only cookies and browser-storage technologies that are reasonably necessary to provide, secure, and operate the Services. Opus does not use cookies or similar technologies for advertising, cross-site tracking, targeted advertising, session replay, or browser-based analytics.
1. Cookies and Similar Technologies
A cookie is a small text file stored by a website in your browser. Cookies can allow a website to recognize a browser, maintain a signed-in session, remember a setting, or support security functions.
Similar technologies include browser local storage, session storage, device or browser identifiers, pixels, and software development kits. This Policy refers to these technologies collectively as "Cookies and Similar Technologies."
Cookies may be temporary and expire when you close your browser, or they may remain until they expire or you delete them. The particular duration depends on the function the cookie performs and the settings of the service that provides it.
2. Technologies We Currently Use
2.1 Authentication and Session Technologies
Opus and its authentication and hosting providers may use strictly necessary Cookies and Similar Technologies to:
- sign you in and maintain your authenticated session;
- route requests and provide features you request;
- protect accounts and the Services against fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access;
- apply rate limits and other security controls; and
- maintain the stability and technical operation of the Services.
These technologies are necessary to provide the Services. Blocking or deleting them may prevent you from signing in or using some features.
Guest sessions. When you open the Opus web application, Opus creates a temporary guest account for your browser and stores a strictly necessary authentication cookie for it, so that your progress (for example, assessment answers) can be saved before you sign up. If you create an account from that guest session, the progress saved under it is kept on your new account. Signing in to an account that already exists does not move guest progress to it; the guest account remains separate and is subject to the deletion schedule below. Guest accounts that are never linked to an email address or sign-in method are deleted automatically on a rolling nightly schedule: normally within a few days after the guest account has existed for 48 hours if no assessment answers or profile were saved, or for 30 days if they were, measured from when the guest account was created even if it is still in use. A guest account with an uncompleted sign-in request (for example, an emailed sign-in link that was never opened) is kept, together with the email address entered, until the request completes or we remove it; you may ask us to delete it at any time. A guest account associated with a request to join our waitlist is kept, together with the email address entered, until access is granted and the account is linked or we remove it; you may ask us to delete it at any time. Guest cookies are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. See Section 9 of our Privacy Policy for retention details.
2.2 Necessary Browser Storage
The Services may use local storage, session storage, or similar browser storage when necessary to maintain authentication state, preserve temporary interface state, or perform a function you request. Opus does not use this storage to build advertising profiles or follow you across unrelated websites or services.
2.3 Ordinary Network and Security Information
When your browser requests a page or other resource, Opus and its hosting, authentication, and security providers may automatically process ordinary technical information such as the requested resource, date and time, browser or device information, and IP address. This information may be used for delivery, security, rate limiting, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and service reliability. Server logs are not cookies stored on your device. Our broader treatment of this information is described in our Privacy Policy.
3. PostHog Operational Analytics
Opus currently uses PostHog for limited server-side operational analytics concerning AI usage and cost. This integration helps Opus understand the technical and financial operation of the Services.
The server-side records sent to PostHog may include:
- AI model and provider information;
- input and output token counts;
- calculated usage costs;
- the Opus feature or technical surface that made the request;
- whether the request succeeded and, if not, a technical error code; and
- pseudonymous technical identifiers used to associate related operational events.
This server-side integration is designed not to send the text of prompts or responses, assessment answers, ordinary chat content, safety or product-access-review content, psychological or personality-profile text, names, email addresses, or Opus's internal account identifier. Where an event is associated with a User, PostHog receives a separate, randomly generated analytics identifier rather than the User's Opus account identifier.
This operational data is sent from Opus's servers to PostHog. It does not require PostHog to place a cookie or similar identifier in your browser.
Opus does not currently use PostHog to collect marketing-site page views or browser interactions. Session recording is disabled.
PostHog acts as a service provider to Opus. For additional information about PostHog and our other service providers, see our Subprocessor List and Privacy Policy.
4. Technologies We Do Not Currently Use
Opus does not currently use:
- advertising or retargeting cookies;
- cross-site or cross-context behavioral tracking;
- browser-based marketing or advertising pixels;
- social-media tracking cookies or embedded social-media trackers;
- session-replay or screen-recording technology;
- browser-based PostHog page-view or interaction analytics.
Opus does not sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under applicable U.S. state privacy laws.
5. Your Browser Choices
Most browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies and clear browser storage through the browser's settings. Because Opus currently uses only necessary browser technologies, blocking or deleting them may sign you out, prevent authentication, or impair requested features.
6. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
Some browsers and extensions transmit a Global Privacy Control ("GPC") or Do Not Track ("DNT") signal.
Opus does not currently sell personal information, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use browser-based behavioral advertising technologies. As a result, a GPC or DNT signal does not currently change the operation of the Services. If our practices change, we will recognize applicable browser-based opt-out signals when required by law.
7. Geographic and Age Scope
The account-required Services are currently offered only to adults who reside in one of the fifty United States or the District of Columbia and who are physically present in the United States when using the Services. Public informational pages may be accessible from other locations, but this access does not mean that Opus offers the account-required Services in those locations.
The Services are intended only for individuals who are at least eighteen years old. We do not knowingly use Cookies and Similar Technologies to collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our technology, Services, or legal obligations change. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and provide any additional notice required by applicable law.
